About Us

My name is Leanne Joanisse and I am the proud owner of Paw Patrol Dog Walking and Pet Services, founded in 2014. I have had the privilege of having pets my entire life and I have been a lifelong volunteer at various local rescue organizations. I am currently the rescue mom of Poppy, a German Shepherd and Furio, a Tabico cat.

Before entering the pet care industry, I was a sociology professor at McMaster University, where I was among the first sociologists in Canada to teach a course on Animals and Society. As much as I enjoyed being a professor, something was missing in my life and I decided to make a career change. Becoming a dog walker and pet sitter has been a dream come true, and I can honestly say I enjoy every single moment I spend with my furry and feathered friends.

Disclaimer: please note that we are not affiliated in any way with the Paw Patrol TV show. When I started the company, I had not heard of this show. My company name is inspired by Buddy, a rescue former junkyard dog known as the Paw Patroller. The name Paw Patrol Dog Walking is a tribute to him and his legacy.

I have had a pet in my life from the moment I was born and this has instilled a great love for animals in me. I am currently the proud dog mom of a rescue beagle named Honey. I cannot imagine my life without a furry companion, and I am so blessed to have made dog walking and pet sitting my career.

After graduating from McMaster University, I spent a number of years assisting clients who had been in motor vehicle accidents. Although this was a rewarding career, once I had the opportunity to join Paw Patrol Dog Walking and Pet Services, I knew that working with animals was my vocation. Dog walking is a perfect fit for me. My love and respect for animals extends into every corner of my life, as I also embrace a vegan lifestyle.
